Jaspers Berry, an exclusive destination wedding venue nestled in the rolling green pastures of the South Coast of New South Wales. Pepper Image's wedding couple Yu & Alex planned their wedding at this stunning wedding venue and here is their story to tell:
HOW DID YOU MEET? WHAT MAKES YOUR MATE A PERFECT MATCH? HOW WAS THE QUESTION POPPED?
We were introduced by a mutual friend of ours and realised we also attended that mutual friend’s wedding a few years ago, where we only briefly met at the time. We love each other's company eating copious amounts of food and spending time exploring the world together when we can.
We were together for about one and a half years when Alex decided to propose to Yue whilst she was a on a tour with friends in Europe. Alex took a flight, unknown to Yue to Europe and did a surprise proposal at Regents Park in London.
HOW LONG WERE YOU ENGAGED? WHO HELPED PLAN? DID YOU HIRE A PLANNER? WHAT PLANNING TOOLS DID YOU USE? DID THE PINK BRIDE ASSIST YOU IN ANY WAY? WHAT TURNED OUT TO BE YOUR BEST DECISION SURROUNDING THE BIG DAY?
We were engaged for roughly one year and a few months before our wedding. We were so lucky we did not have to postpone the wedding during the obvious
challenging times in 2020 due to Covid. All the planning was done by ourselves, with the help of family and friends. Our best decisions include:
- Hiring a fantastic photography and videography team and our last minute decision to extend the hours to cover more of our wedding day.
- Choosing Jaspers Berry as our venue! An amazing team that did our bespoke deco, floral arrangements, beautiful cake, food and helped us organise the day made the whole planning process a lot easier.
- Having cute dressed up Alpacas was so much fun!
PLEASE RECAP YOUR BIG DAY FOR US:
We were extremely lucky with the weather at Jasper's Berry. There was a high chance of rain and thunderstorms during our ceremony, but they did not eventuate. Other than that, we both went along with the day and thoroughly enjoyed it. When things ran over time or the weather looked like it might turn for the worse, we were just happy that we could celebrate our special day together with family and friends.
Our private first reveal in the Secret Garden was a very memorable moment, with the lush greenery, koi pond and fountain creating such a lovely atmosphere. This moment was special and made us both cry. We were both also quite emotional during the ceremony and speeches.
We also loved that everyone enjoyed exploring the exclusive grounds of Jasper's Berry during the day and at night, and that they all made a little weekend getaway to Berry because of the wedding. Most of all, it was so heartwarming to see our closest family and friends, who have all been such a significant part of our lives.
What about the details?
The venue reminded us of an enchanted English forest and garden filled with fairy lights and greenery, which was also the theme of our reception. The venue owner, Rosi, helped us immensely to create this vision. When we first walked into the reception room on the morning of the wedding, we were both touched by how beautiful and overwhelming the Orangery was. The fairy lights were the perfect finishing touch.
What was your wedding day budget?
We saved on stationery with help from family and friends, using paperless invitations, which also saved us a lot of time. We splurged on things that would make the day fun and enjoyable for our guests, such as alpacas, a live painter and a band, as well as on the flowers and décor.
What's the best advice you can give a couple planning their wedding?
Book your main vendors and suppliers as early as possible. Make a short list of the most important things, focus on those and do not fret over the small details, especially if they take up too much of your time.
Make sure your run sheet is detailed enough, and include some time for yourselves so you can eat all the food and enjoy the day too!
What do you look forward to most as Mr.& Mrs.?
The many adventures and responsibilities that will have to be shared together… and also buying a puppy.
