How did you meet? What makes your partner a perfect match? How was the question popped?
Charity and I met online through mutual friends. Charity proposed on 12 April 2020 while we were on holiday in New York City. We had met up with my cousin, who showed us around the city. After spending the day wandering around NYC, Charity asked my cousin where the most magical place to propose would be. As we were sightseeing and looking back at the city lights glowing in the dark sky, Charity got down on one knee and proposed, and my cousin captured it all.
How long were you engaged? Who helped plan the wedding, and what was your best decision?
We were engaged and married within the same year—crazy! The planning was organised with help from friends, family and Krista, the wedding coordinator at Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley, who was truly amazing. Pinterest was our main planning tool, and our best decision was not to postpone the wedding if possible because of COVID-19.
Recap the big day: what made you emotional, and what were the most memorable moments?
What a day 19.12.2020 was. I became a little emotional about the weather because it was raining and our ceremony was planned for outside. I did not want to give up the dream location. However, the rain stopped for the time we needed for the ceremony, and it turned out perfectly. We all felt a little awkward having our photos taken, which made us laugh, but the photographs from the Pepper Image team turned out beautifully. The most memorable moments were our first dance, the father-daughter dance and the fact that our wedding went ahead just before COVID restrictions returned, allowing all 50 guests to mingle and dance the night away.
What was your vision or theme, and how did you bring it to life?
The wedding colours were white, light pink and emerald green. Bringing these colours into the details created an elegant look that blended beautifully with the natural surroundings at Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley.
Where did you save, and where did you splurge?
Our wedding budget was AUD 25,000 for 80 guests. Unfortunately, COVID restrictions limited the celebration to 50 people, so we saved money in that area. The wedding dress was where I splurged the most.
What is the best advice you can give couples planning their wedding?
My best advice is to take everything in slowly because the day goes by so quickly. Try not to stress; at the end of the day, you get to marry your best friend.
